Professional Growth
Calaveras County Office of Education (CCOE) provides a variety of professional learning opportunities for Calaveras County Educators, including consultation, coaching, communities of practice, lesson study, mentoring, reflective supervision, and technical assistance. In an effort to provide robust and relevant professional learning options, CCOE is proud to partner with Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools, San Joaquin County Office of Education, California Collaborative for Educational Excellence, and Computer Using Educators.
The 21st Century California School Leadership Academy (21CSLA) is a partnership between the California Department of Education, the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence, the State Board of Education, the California Subject Matter Project, the 21CSLA Center at UC Berkeley and UC Los Angeles, and seven regional agencies across the state. These critical partners operate within the California System of Support, which builds local capacity for education improvement. 21CSLA aims to provide high-quality leadership development training to school and district leaders in California that receive Federal Title II funds. Resources developed by the initiative are provided at no cost to qualifying leaders, schools, and districts.
The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of seven regional lead agencies. SCOE is leading the development and implementation of the 21CSLA initiative in the Placer-Sacramento region and is the liaison with the statewide partners. The Placer-Sacramento region is broken into five sub-regions, with the lead agencies assisting the facilitation and implementation of the SCOE Regional Academy goals. Calaveras County Office of Education is pleased to lead the sub-region that includes our rural neighboring counties:
- Calaveras County Office of Education (Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, and Tuolumne Counties)
- Placer County Office of Education (El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sierra, and Sutter Counties)
- Sacramento County Office of Education (Sacramento County)
- San Joaquin County Office of Education (San Joaquin County)
- Yolo County Office of Education (Colusa, Yolo, and Yuba Counties)
The California Mathematics, Science, and Computer Science Partnership (CAL-MSCS) aims to build a sustainable professional learning infrastructure for educators in grades 4–12. It supports high-quality professional development in mathematics, science, and computer science, while also encouraging family and community engagement. CCOE is a recipient of the CAL-MSCS grant and has had the opportunity to participate in this impactful statewide initiative. Educators across our county have engaged in meaningful professional learning opportunities that enhance teaching and learning in these critical subject areas.
The Calaveras County Office of Education (CCOE) recognizes that school and district leadership is challenging work. The Administrator Network fosters essential professional collaboration for leaders who serve TK-Adult students across the county. Network meetings provide opportunities for leaders to share best practices, learn about important upcoming professional learning, and discuss the ongoing work of continuous improvement. Administrators are highly encouraged to participate in the monthly network meetings to support their own professional growth and to help strengthen educational leadership in Calaveras County.
