I currently hold my Site Supervisor permit and have over 20 years of teaching experience starting as a teacher and Home Visitor at Head Start Preschool and 7 years at a preschool in Murphys. I started with Extended Day in 2008 as a teacher at the Michelson Center and became Site Supervisor at Hazel Fischer in 2009. I am currently working as the Site Supervisor at Michelson Extended Day and serve as the Nutrition Technician for the entire Child Development Program. I am currently working on my Early Childhood Education degree, and have a background in Art, English and Biology.

I have my bachelor's in child development from Stanislaus State and have worked in Education for the last 20 years. My expertise has taken me from California to Colorado and back again, running preschool programs all the way to owning and operating my own tutoring company. I was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe but have lived in Murphys since I was 12. I like to share my hobbies with my students through STEAM, 3D printing, reading, and rocks.

I achieved a Master's in Education with a Specialization in Child Development through Ashford University in 2020. Along with working for CCOE, I work as an Adjunct Instructor at Columbia College teaching various Child Development courses online. All my life I have worked with children, including two out of three of the local school districts and Columbia College Preschool. The classrooms I've worked in range from typically developing, reading specialization, resource, and special day students.
When I first began my educational journey, back in 2013, my daughters were in their early preteens and my son was just a toddler. Now my daughters are adults and my son is enrolled in our local middle school. I love to travel and spend time with my family, especially at the beach. I am definitely a “hotel camper” rather than an outdoor camper. I love to craft, paint, draw, and enjoy teaching others and learning new ideas!

I am the Aide at Michelson Extended Day and have worked in childcare since 2023, which includes the Extended Day Program and Building Bridges preschool. I grew up in Stockton but in 2022 my family and I decided to move to Calaveras County. I am working to obtain my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I have always had a passion to teach and work with children. My goal in childcare is to create a space where every child feels safe.

Jessica Robertson’s love for helping young students began as a senior in high school. For her senior project she volunteered at the on-site preschool at her high school campus. She created a lesson plan to teach the children how to create stick-on Easter sun catchers for windows, using squeeze-tube-stained glass gel. In 2018 Jessica’s passion for early childhood education became a reality when she participated in an Apprenticeship Teacher Aid program through The Resource Connection and Columbia College. Taking college classes and returning to the workforce with children in the infant/toddler program, preschool and high school was challenging. Lucky to have a fantastic supportive husband and family surrounding her, even with the extra complications Covid-19 brought, Jessica was able to complete the program exceeding the Teachers Aid permit level and achieving her Associate Teachers credentialing. Jessica is continuing her education with hopes to continue to advance her permit level, education and abilities to teach, engage and encourage young minds for the foreseeable future.
